Older people as a proportion of the population are concentrated in the northern half of the state, particularly in the Upper Peninsula and northeastern Lower Peninsula. These concentrations result both from the out-migration of younger people seeking employment or educational opportunities in large cities and the in-migration of older people seeking rural amenities.Back to article page
