Performance of the selected RF model per transect sorted by the R2 score (left) with its geographic location (right). The left image shows that the model is able to fit half of the sites with a moderate-to-strong R2 (i.e. 0.7 < R2 < 1), whereas the performance in the remaining sites is weak-to-moderate (i.e. 0.3 < R2 < 0.7). This means that the transects with a high R2 score, respond better to weather variables than the rest of the transects, which may be driven by variables not included in the current model (e.g. wildlife) due to inavailability. The right figure shows the geographic location of the transects: green squares represent transects with moderate-to-strong fitting, whereas red squares represents transects with weak-to-moderate fitting
